You hit the nail on the head. I fondly remember our foursomes match at Muirfield decades after playing it. It's too bad in the U.S. we don't play it very often, except in member-member or member-guest events occasionally. Brilliant fun

Thank you for the introduction/conversion to foursomes many years ago.

You are absolutely spot on with your appraisal of foursomes golf. Foursomes is far more enjoyable than the tedious slog of fourball golf. It always hammers home how much more forgiving we are of a partner following a duffed chip or wayward tee shot than we ever are of ourselves. The time spent waiting for 3 others to play and worrying about one’s score is far better spent in the clubhouse over drinks and/ or lunch reviewing the drama and farce of a foursomes match

All very true Tim. I relish being put in the bunker as I am so relieved it was not I that put my partner in the bunker. And when I do, I presume, he feels as I did.

Great article Tim. After 40 + years of foursomes at Muirfield, I can only add that its the most fun social format with competitive friends in a tussle to the end with only the wonderful Dallmeyer for a handicap method to take you towards the final hole in combat. Fast and fun!
